This painting concludes the collection “A Time for Love.”
No one is here, and yet a presence can be felt, heavy in its silence and solemnity: the echo of those who were still here only moments before.
It is a painting of absence, of the moment just after, after love, and all that it leaves behind. An absence, yes, but one still warm, still alive, holding everything in suspension, unfinished. The place seems haunted by memory.
It is not the quarrel or the separation that I sought to paint, but the emptiness left behind. An inhabited emptiness, where objects speak more eloquently than faces, and the place itself becomes the sole keeper of the memory of what has just faded away: what remains when nothing remains.
